A benefit of SAC membership is that speech-language pathologists and audiologists are eligible (though not required) to obtain Clinical Certification. Clinical Certification is an important step in the career development of speech-language pathologists and audiologists practicing in Canada.
Clinical certification is not the same as holding a license or registration to practice. In BC, the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology are regulated by the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC). You need to be an active registrant to practice in BC. Registration with the CSHHPBC is not the same as Certification. SAC Clinical Certification is an added credential, listed on your business cards and client documentation, which elevates you and your profession.
