Welcome to the BC Association of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists

Representing the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology in British Columbia for over 50 years. BCASLPA supports over 1200 speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and supportive personnel in BC.

BCASLPA Membership

BCASLPA and our national association, CASLPA, have a joint membership agreement requiring Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists to be a member of both associations (or a member of neither association). Under this agreement, all membership registrations are done through CASLPA. You can contact CASLPA at 1-800-259-8519 or www.caslpa.ca.

Moving to BC

If you are moving to BC and you are already a member of CASLPA, forward your new address to CASLPA. Refer to the membership categories page for more details on application criteria.

Lapsed Members

For members who have previously belonged to BCASLPA, but have allowed their membership to lapse, contact the CASLPA.

Members are required to meet the current standards, if their membership has lapsed for more than two years.

Foreign Applicants

Established in April 2010, the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC is the regulatory body for audiologists, hearing instrument practitioners and speech-language pathologists in BC. College membership is mandatory for those who wish to practice. The major purpose of the College is to protect the public.

All foreign applicants to BCASLPA are required to apply through CASLPA. This process will facilitate the process of having your documentation reviewed to determine if it is equivalent to Canadian standards for practice. Once your membership has been approved by CASLPA, a letter of good standing is forwarded from CASLPA to BCASLPA and your membership to BCASLPA will be processed.

There is a reciprocity agreement between ASHA and CASLPA, which facilitates the application process for ASHA members. If you are a member of ASHA, contact CASLPA for more details.

Please refer to the CASLPA website for further information regarding the foreign application process or contact the manager of professional standards at CASLPA. Their toll free number is 1-800-259-8519.

The position of the Office of the Provincial Paediatric Therapy Recruitment and Retention Coordinator was created to advise government on strategies to address the issues of recruitment and retention for public sector therapists working with children from birth to age 19. Providing a low-cost and usable employment tool to connect therapists with available jobs was identified as a key starting place to fill vacant positions in the province.
